Architecture: How Architecture Affects Industrial Engineering
This art research paper seeks to evaluate the relationship between architecture and Industrial Engineering Technology. Industrial Engineering Technology may be considered as a branch of engineering that is concerned with development, enhancement, improvement, and analysis of integrated systems of people, knowledge, information, capital, equipment, and energy. Its main goal is to optimize complex systems or processes. That is achieved by making production simple, fast, effective, and efficient. As an industrial engineer technologist in a steel manufacturing company, I will be responsible for implementing designs and processes involved in various aspects of making steel products. My overall duty will be to involve the management in all operation processes and maintenance of complex operating systems within the company. In addition, I will be greatly required to oversee industrial behaviors, planning procedures, and human factors that determine normal daily activities within the company. Most likely, I will be required to interact closely with computer applications during the design process. It will be my role to make reports and present them to the company’s board relating to design of the steel equipment. It is evident that creative and technically proficient individuals in architecture can become main players in the field of industrial engineering with a view of helping companies attain profitable productivity, thus proving that there is a clear relationship between the two disciplines.
The company will be in a position to create an effective environment necessary for working. That will be portrayed by presence of ample rooms that hold engineering devices required to handle designing of steel products. Those rooms will include labs for conducting research and offices with the working staff. Offices will also provide space for files with the company’s production records. The files will be placed on well-designed book shelves in the offices. Those rooms will also house several computer machines endowed with activities of designing various products. There will be sufficient supply of electricity to the company that is required for running various machines in the industry, as well as providing enough light for security purposes and illumination. The company’s management will recruit enough working force in the company who will perform various industrial tasks. Lastly, there will be effective communication enabled by presence of telephones located in various rooms within the company.
Since engineering equipment requires a lot of space, the company will allocate designing machines in big rooms that will guarantee space and allow free movement of specialists operating them. The compound will also be big enough to accommodate vehicles such as tractors, trucks, and buses that are used for transportation purposes. Vehicles will be used to bring raw materials to the company, as well as taking finished products to the market. The compound will also be required to be big enough to ensure that raw materials have enough space while waiting to undergo processing. As a way of ensuring comfortable movement of the work force, corridors, pavements, and hallways will be made wide enough to handle as many activities as possible while not limiting movement of the company’s workers.
Considering that processing of steel occurs under very high temperature conditions, the environment around the company will be made as open as possible to allow free circulation of air. Rooms where processing of steel will take place will allow circulation of free air by having wide windows with spaced grills (wire meshes). That will be suitable in ensuring that cool air can move into rooms while warm air can get out of the room using the same windows. The activity will be enhanced by having as many ventilation spaces in the room as possible. The goal is to avoid cases of suffocation by those working in rooms. It is also important in ensuring that machines involved in the processing do not break down as a result of operating under high temperatures.
Instances of exposing workers to risks will be taken into consideration. Employees will be provided with necessary working gear. For instance, they will be required to wear lab and/or dust coats, dust masks, and groves while attending various activities in the company, especially while in the company’s lab. The aim will be to limit them from coming into contact with toxic gases coming from heating of steel, as well as preventing contamination with dust that can lead to breathing problems. The well-being of workers will also be ensured through making sure that they are not exposed to live electric wires. The architecture involved in the installation of electricity will be made safe by ensuring that all electric appliances in the company are insulated.

In addition to minimizing health risks to workers, the environment within the company will be designed to accommodate various sensory functions. While performing operations in various laboratories, especially while heating steel, employees will be protected from radiowaves emanating from the heating machines, which can harm their sensory nerves. Participants in this field will be supposed to be in attires that do not permit radio waves to have any contact with their flesh. Since there will be a lot of heating taking place while melting steel, hence leading to very high temperatures, workers will be encouraged to be in attires containing asbestos, which will be provided by the company to keep off their bodies from high temperatures. Computers taking part in the designing process will operate under minimal light possible, which would not affect user’s visual sensory nerves. The practice will be crucial in ensuring that human seeing ability is not interfered with.
In order to ensure a substantial level of sensory conformity, it will always be the company’s goal to expand rooms occupied by machines likely to produce radiation that is harmful to human sensory nerves. In order to maintain good visual ability of workers, the lighting from bulbs will be constantly regulated to conform to the working interests of users in various rooms. Computer screens will constantly undergo modification to incorporate screens that have minimal effects on visual sensory nerves of users.
The company will incorporate diverse architect techniques while putting down various buildings within its jurisdiction. These buildings will conform to social structures within the region. Most rooms in this company will involve various arts that reflect cultures of people surrounding the company. Walls will be painted with people involved in the process of harnessing raw materials relating to steel. It is the economic activity that people in this region are involved in. The logo painting representing the company’s trade mark will recognize culture of individuals in the region where the company is founded. Thus, it will incorporate men with attires worn by traditional representatives of that society. Most equipment that will be used to build this company will be generally steel, which is harnessed in the vicinity, as well as roofs and containers. Timber that facilitates building of various rooms in the company will come from a nearby forest in the region. It will be a clear indication that individuals from that region can claim the company as one of their own territory.
Isolation will be maintained by enacting a strong fence surrounding the company. This will ensure that unauthorized guests are kept away from reaching out to individuals within the company. Walls will be raised high enough to prevent outsiders from seeing what is happening inside the walls. For security purposes, the fence will be electrified to keep off those who might be willing to rob the company. Since a lot of people may be in need of seeing the company’s manager, his/her office will be located at a point where it is not easily accessible. That will be necessary to keep him/her from disturbances that come along with many people. For that reason, it will be ensured that only those people with appointment can see the manager. Taking into account that privacy is highly important, many windows in the company will incorporate only translucent window panes that only allow light to go through them. The architect will ensure that outsiders cannot have a notion of what is happening within those buildings.
In conclusion, architecture controls the manner in which activities occur in various companies. That is true especially in case of industrial engineering technology that involves production of steel equipment. Architecture designs are very important in making sure that the privacy of a company is maintained and protected from those individuals who are not supposed to breach it. It is also a better way to express the culture of any community through incorporating various arts while constructing various buildings within the company. The well-being of workers in a company is only guaranteed when the correct architecture is put in place while performing various activities in the company. That is especially so during the installation of electricity, which is to serve various purposes in the company. A good architecture is also necessary for ensuring that machines and equipment within the company are allocated sufficient space, as well as allowing free movement of workers as they attend to various duties within the company.
