The Project Proposal from the Ground Up

  • Describe the article and explain how this might make you a good project idea

The first chapter deals with explaining what the article relates to in regards to writing a project proposal. The main premises of the text (proposal writing) help the writer in explaining ‘why’ and ‘how’ something happens. This premise presents the reason why thorough research has to be done to have a conclusive project that addresses the relevant issues to the target audience. The article helps the reader in gathering enough knowledge as the basis of an informed decision-making strategy. Therefore, the paper serves as a guideline to researchers in helping them master the knowledge and skills required, analyze new situations, assess and locate the information to have the right understanding to digest the facts and theories of the information. These ideas help the researcher in creative thinking to harness the required knowledge to justify the plan to manage human and natural resources in a way that creates a solution to the existing problems.

  • After the presentation, decide as a group which of them would make the most interesting basis of a project.

After the group presentation, we performed a need-based analysis on each of the individual presentations made and realized that the most interesting basis of the project will be the one that addresses the problems faced by the majority of people in society. The main problem focused on the economic empowerment of the population to reduce the level of low-class citizens in the economy. The proposed project required the group to develop sustainable means of income generation to raise the level of per capita income for the people. Therefore, as a group, we selected several cases of viable and sustainable entrepreneurial endeavors that can be practiced by the people to raise their level of income and remain competitive in the market through continuous production. These ideas are to be presented to the class through the group leader.

Project Idea Based on the Research

Based on the suggestion presented by the members of the group, the project will focus on the economic empowerment of the citizen as addressed in the proposal. From the statistics available from government offices, the GDP statistics has lowered and the level of people leaving below the poverty index in the country has continuously increased due to lack of sustainable economic developments of the majority and thus, the economy has continuously declined to the extent of failing to support the livelihood of its people.

The Patron

Due to the impoverished level of the people, it is significantly impossible for individual persons to raise the capital to run a business or to support the means of production. Therefore, the proposal of this project seeks to obtain capital through the collaborative efforts of the individuals and their donors. Thus, we have made the necessary arrangements to outsource donors from far and wide and connect them with the people. Besides, the government is expected to chip in and provide a good economic environment that will enable the economic empowerment of the people to take place. This can be achieved through the provision of start-up capital that has low-interest rates and a flexible repayment period.

The Population

The project is aimed at serving the entire population as its long-term objective. However, to move to the right place to achieve this goal, a pilot project will have to start with the youth who have managed to acquire basic education and not lucky to secure jobs. the donors and project financiers are expected to provide them with equipment, money, and training on how to run the businesses of their choice. Then, the benefits and the success of the first phase of the project will be rolled out to the other members of the society.

The Problems Addressed by the Project

The project is expected to address the issue of unemployment that has been the main cause of poverty, crimes, diseases, and high mortality rate. When this project succeeds, it is expected that food production will increase, per capita income will be raised and economic growth shall be achieved.

Paradigm, Plan, and Cost of the Project

The paradigm of these projects is based on education, entrepreneurship, and marketing. The core principle that forms the basis of these projects is to achieve economic growth for the country and to raise the income per individual. This plan has been vetted to be the best because it addresses the problems of the people in various dimensions such as social, cultural, and economic. The specific type of research that can help in meeting the project requirements effectively should be based on case studies for other entrepreneurial undertakings. The plan outlines all the activities that tended to be performed with each party (the financier, the entrepreneurs, and the government) having a clear set activity. The project cost is also outlined in the plan in the appendices section. Similar projects have been averaged to cost between $100 and $400 per individual with a growth prospect of 4 times at the end of the year. Besides, the project has considered the effect of other considerations such as the political factors and the effect of partners on the business undertakings in the projects. Thus, the six P’s should be put to action to make the necessary changes in the proposal.

Defining a Paradigm

According to Barker, the term paradigm and paradigm shift as what helps people to understand the nature and context of unexpected changes in a business environment and should not be considered as a loose idea because it helps the person concerned in understanding the origin and causes to provide a better understanding to the expected paradigm shift. However, Barker contradicts his premises by listing 27 loosely related terms that are suggested to be the definitions of paradigm to other scholars. Lastly, Bakers cones agree to some of this definition by providing an integrated definition that relates paradigm as a set of rules and regulations that defines boundaries and guides the researcher on how to conduct themselves based on the set boundaries to achieve the required success. This indicates that Baker finally agrees with some of the definitions provided by others. Based on the readings and information provided by Baker, I would define a paradigm as a set of frameworks that consist of basic assumptions, methods, and ways of thinking and provide solutions to the discipline under consideration.

In a group of three, the picture of a paradigm was drawn. The word paradigm describes the abstract concept of objectivity with no actual picture of the word paradigm. By drawing this picture, the group was able to create objectivity in describing the concept metaphorically.

The process of developing new ideas from the old ones has been practiced for a long time. Basically, innovations are basically advancement of the old and existing inventions that are facilitated through research. Students can be encouraged to be creative and make use of the existing information as the best ideologies to base on to advance their knowledge. Developing new ideas is a process that requires the students to be independent in thoughts by being creative and thinking differently. This is the only way that fresh ideas can provide room for the youth to be creative.

If Baker was asked to respond to the issue of how tradition supports the original work, the fields that are outside science may not be expected to have an equivalent level of creativity in reproducibility. Therefore, through the concept of a paradigm shift, creativity has room for producing new results and this is the basis of originality and innovativeness.

  • How to research a paradigm

It is important to first establish the problem at hand and identify the root cause of the problem. After establishing the context and nature of the problem, find a paradigm that is likely to provide the right direction towards solving the problem at hand. There are different ways of doing research. First, the researcher can opt to review similar case studies, observation, or interview people who might have been in similar situations to obtain a solution. The main issue to look for during the research is the similarity between the current problem and the literature aimed at seeking viable solutions.

Designs for Working by Malcolm Gladwell

Gladwell's essay focuses on the way people look at the space around them in their daily lives such as from schools homes and every other place. She defines how well the spaces that people live in are designed to build trust, commitment, engagement, and productivity. She advises engineers that they should seek to increase the level of communication in the offices and homes by designing rooms that exchange private spaces for public ones. A more direct approach is to design offices that are flexible to allow the kinds of people who live there to have spontaneous interactions by coming together more often. For my case, I would still employ the same approach that Gladwell advocates because it appears easy, simple, and convenient to design, execute and sustain in various environments.

Through the use of Jacob’s theories on urban environment to office plans, the management appears to have taken a paradigm from another area and applied it in their management. This paradigm shift has provided a very effective atmosphere of changing the norms in the traditional offices and thus enhancing creativity and innovativeness. However, Jacob’s theory requires a situation that has more than the appropriate physical environment with a particular kind of person who can bind the diverse elements of office and street life together.

To test a hypothesis in a workplace, Karen Stephenson's study suggests various ways that suggest the sort of work to be performed. Besides, there are other productivity-related issues that a person can measure and record to provide a better understanding of a college or workplace. These measures include checking the design, planning for the space provided, and providing an environment that allows access to every point in the room.

The seating arrangement in a class is often influenced by the relationship that one has with whom they sit next to, the position of the seat in the class, or the type of seat. Studies have shown that people tend to gravitate to some specific areas in class to get closer to whom they share a lot or to whom they are related. The relationship between where a person seats has a high correlation to whoever they sit next to or it can also be determined by the attitude between them and those they want to sit away from. The strength and weakness of the connection are a great determinant of the physical distance between the chairs.

The Stephenson study has a direct and close correlation with the seating arrangement present in my class. People seat next to or far from each other depending on the attractiveness and emotions between them provided there is the freedom to choose the seating position. These conclusions can help the management in shaping the class dynamics to have a less polarized class as the best way of effective teaching. This can also help the class in equal and unbiased classroom participation to all students.
